How to decorate a cake with real flowers 🌸

Flowers can take anything to the next level. From a party, adding flowers at unexpected points to even a simple cake elevating it to its maximum splendor. Instagram is full of them! So we couldn't resist creating our own flower cake for this weekend. And these are some tips to consider when doing it.

How to decorate a flower cake without dying trying:

1. Choose the right flowers to do it
They have to be heat-resistant flowers that will stay in shape for several hours, some of them are the chamomile flower, the adorable scented stock (which comes in a wide variety of colours).

2. It can be dangerous
Just as there are a big variety of edible flowers that been used to decorate cakes and add flavours to our drinks. On the other hand, there are very poisonous flowers, which can cause serious problems, for example one of them is our favorite, the Anthurium, use it only if you are an expert and know how to professionally cover the stems so that it does not touch the cake. Take a time to investigate the flowers you will use to don't find yourself in a very unpleasant situation.

3. Use your imagination
Edible flowers are wonderful but we are talking about a bold and original cake. Play with a beautiful colour palette that highlights the beauty of the flowers and don't be afraid to place them at different heights, at the end of the day our goal is to go beyond convention and make a great impact. No one will forget that cake!

4. A cake on a budget
It is no secret that flowers are a luxury product and prices are high, especially if they are high quality flowers. If you have a very tight budget, I recommend using flowers that can be divided, for example: A chamomile flower you just have to cut off all the little heads and it will yield a lot! The same thing happens with the Matthiola Incana, the more you can divide it into small pieces. Te most abundant your flower is the less stems you will need.

5. From a simple cake to a work of art
To do it, I recommend using a cake almost as if it were a blank canvas, the simpler the better, I highly recommend you using a single-color meringue as a base, then adding different colours and textures with a lovelyvariety of flowers.

6. Research the origin of your flowers
Sadly the use of pesticides is not a secret :( which are harmful to health. If possible, use flowers of organic origin you also need to clean the stems with cold water before to use them.

7. Toothpick ( your best friends)
Cut the stem very short and then stick it into a toothpick on it, this will allow you to use the head of the flower but the only thing that will touch the cake will be the toothpick.

8. Do the cake decorations at the last minute
Or the latest you can, even during the party and fter finishing the decoration with flowers, keep your cake in the fridge, the low temperatures will help you to keep the flower deco in good shape.

There is no rules just go with the flow and create something wonderful! it will be a very lovely surprise to your guests and will be a remarcable part of the event. Get in touch if you need any advice of which flowers you could use or even if you like to order a cake flower kit.

Wishing you all the best, lots of fun and flowers.
